Robert E. Steele Scholarship in Engineering

The Robert E. Steele Scholarship in Engineering was established in 2012 by Robert Steele. Robert earned his B.E. in Electrical Engineering in 1971. After graduation, he joined the Packard Electric Division of General Motors which later became Delphi Automotive Systems. During his 37 years at GM/Delphi, he worked in the Advanced Engineering Group where he did design and development of automotive electronics systems. During this time he was awarded 15 patents, received the Delphi Automotive Systems Presidents Award for Innovation, and was inducted into the Delphi Innovation Hall of Fame. His scholarship will benefit a full-time student from Northeast Ohio, completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Thomas J. McCormick Memorial Scholarship

The Thomas J. McCormick Memorial Scholarship was established by the family, friends, and fraternal brothers of Tommy McCormick. It honors not only Tommy’s selfless spirit, but also his unwavering commitment to helping those in need. His scholarship will benefit a student working towards a bachelor of science in business administration.

Mike and Janet Murray Scholarship

The Mike and Janet Murray Scholarship was established in 2017 by Mike and Janet Murray. Mike and Janet are avid travelers, having visited over fifty countries, all seven continents, all fifty states, the North Pole and Antarctica. Both are passionate supporters of YSU and are frequently seen in the stands proudly cheering on the Penguins. Their scholarship will benefit a member of the Women’s Basketball team who is in good academic standing.

The Clara J. Ross Memorial Scholarship in Education

The Clara J. Ross Memorial Scholarship in Education was established by Clara’s loving daughters, Linda and Sandra as well as her extended family and friends. The scholarship is a perfect reflection of her love of children and her love of learning. Clara received her B.S. in Education in 1963 from Youngstown University. She attended college as a non-traditional student. Her scholarship will benefit a student who returns to college after having been out of high school for at least seven years and plans on majoring in education.
