Victoria Berkey Kreiser Scholarship for Secondary Education

The Victoria Berkey Kreiser Scholarship for Secondary Education was established in recognition of Edith P. Painter, Dean of Women at Youngstown University. In 1965 when faced with the reality of having to drop out of school due to financial hardship, Victoria met with Dean Painter and explained her unfortunate situation. Because of Dr. Painter’s dedication to the students of YSU, she assisted in obtaining a donation and an on-campus assistantship that enabled Victoria to continue her education and graduate in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a secondary education teaching degree.
